FAQ

  • WHAT IS CLUB/JO VOLLEYBALL?

USA Junior Olympic (sometimes called J.O.) volleyball or club volleyball is a nationwide, junior volleyball system comprised of individual clubs organized by region under the parent organization, USA Volleyball, for the primary purpose of growing and supporting the sport.

Generally, club volleyball offers participants the opportunity to continue to compete and develop skills outside of and well beyond the relatively short middle school and high school seasons.

MN CORE Volleyball is a member of the Junior Volleyball Association (JVA).

In general, schedules will be officially released at our team meetings session after tryouts.

Club teams of age 13 and older, will play in 9-10 in-state, single or two-day tournaments. Higher level teams will travel to WI and/or IA for 2 tournaments, and will typically play in 5-6 single-day tournaments and 3-4 two-day tournaments.

Club teams of age 12 and younger play a shorter season, so they will play in 5-6 in-state tournaments (typically 3-4 single-day tournaments and 2-3 two-day tournaments).

Fall teams play in a league in Burnsville, MN

Most in-state tournaments are within a 1 hour drive from the Waconia area.

  • WHY IS CLUB VOLLEYBALL SO EXPENSIVE?

Club volleyball offers a high level volleyball experience with a great return in training, skill, and experience. We do recognize it is a large amount of money compared to many youth sports experiences. Some of the main reasons fees are higher include:

  • Use of paid coaches rather than volunteer parents
  • Rental of practice spaces
  • A season that is 4-6 months long
  • Multiple individual team practices and training opportunities (typically two 90 minute practices per week)
  • Multiple full day or two day tournaments (typically 9-10 tournaments against other club teams)

As a non-profit organization, we are able to provide many of the same options as larger clubs, but at a lower price than larger clubs.

  • SEEMS LIKE A BIG COMMITTMENT. WHAT IF MY DAUGHTER PARTICIPATES IN OTHER ACTIVITIES?

While we expect all our players to attend all practices and tournaments, we do understand there are other things happening outside of volleyball and encourage athletes to participate in activities other than volleyball. Our program and coaches do our best to work with the athletes to allow them to be more involved and participate in the activities they enjoy.
